Weleda Cold Cream Visage 30 ml is a facial care product specially formulated for dry to very dry skin, to relieve tightness and restore suppleness. A worthy heir to Galen's famous cerat, an ointment based on olive oil, beeswax and water discovered by the Greek physician Claude Galien in the middle of the 2nd century, this cream takes up the fundamentals, substituting only sweet almond oil for olive oil.
Used long before Galen by the ancient Egyptians in the preparation of massage ointments, sweet almond oil's softening and emollient properties immediately soothe skin irritations and nourish the dermis for better water penetration and optimal hydration. Skin is softened and plumped.
A thickening texture agent much prized by pharmaceutical and cosmetics laboratories, beeswax is also used as a film-forming agent in skin and facial care products. It deposits a light veil on the cutaneous barrier to reinforce its defenses against the aggressions of pollution and bacteria, and promotes the healing of small lesions that can become deeper as the epidermis gradually dries out.
This protective film, which prevents excessive evaporation of body water, does not interfere with the skin's natural breathing, nor does it cause allergenic damage.
