The form of vitamin B9 used here (Quatrefolic® 6S-5 methyl glucosamine tetrahydrofolate), is The best form of vitamin B9 currently available on the market (fourth-generation" folates).
It is the physiologically active form of vitamin B9, i.e. the one naturally used by the body.
When folic acid (the classic form of vitamin B9) is ingested, the body must first convert this molecule into an active vitamin before it can be used. However, this conversion, carried out by two enzymes (DHFR and MTHFR), is deficient in many people (nearly a third of the European population, according to some estimates). If folic acid is not metabolized, it can accumulate in the body, leading to undesirable effects. Hence the importance of consuming the active form directly: 6S-5 methyl tetrahydrofolate.
