Mustela Soin Croûtes de Lait 40 ml eliminates and helps limit the appearance of cradle cap. Its complex of patented rebalancing active ingredients soothes the scalp, thanks in particular to avocado polyphenols. Moisturizing and nourishing, Mustela cradle cap cream soothes the itching and discomfort that can accompany flaking. It helps regulateexcess sebum on the scalp and protects it thanks to two plant-derived active ingredients:

  • Avocado, a natural seboregulator that restores the seborrheic balance of baby's scalp
  • Borage oil, emollient, soothing and moisturizing. Helps eliminate cradle cap

Why does baby have cradle cap?

Also known as seborrheic dermatitis, cradle cap can appear as early as birth. It's a minor dysregulation of sebum production in the scalp, which produces more than it needs. Sebum then accumulates, forming cradle cap. Contrary to what their name might suggest, they have nothing to do with infant feeding.

There are two types of cradle cap:

  • dry, white cradle caps, which mainly affect babies with oily skin
  • moist cradle caps, often yellowish and oozing. The latter are due to allergic eczema, or atopic dermatitis, which is common in babies with dry skin.

Whatever their type, these manifestations are benign and will disappear on their own by the end of infancy. However, their disappearance can be accelerated by appropriate treatment.

How to treat cradle cap?

Even if cradle cap is due to excess sebum, you should never dry out your baby's skin. You should also avoid scratching the scales! Scratching can not only stress or injure your baby, but also over-activate sebum secretion, since the skin produces more sebum if it feels attacked.

Using a suitable cream to soften and loosen cradle cap from the scalp is the best way to get rid of it. Then remove them with a mild shampoo. The most stubborn can be removed with a comb or brush gently brushed through baby's hair.
