Calma, a solution close to breastfeeding

Medela's Calma device has been designed as an alternative to the breast for mothers who wish to give their baby their breast milk. It was developed in collaboration with breastfeeding experts from the Human Lactation Research Group led by Professor Hartmann at the University of Western Australia. Calma allows your baby to suck, swallow and breathe at his or her natural rhythm:

he can drink, pause and breathe at his natural rhythm, remaining relaxed and serene;

your baby has to suck to get the milk to start flowing;

your baby retains his natural sucking behaviour.

Calma features a unique ventilation system that helps your baby avoid swallowing air when sucking.
