LITHOSOLV comes in the form of sustained-release tablets, each weighing 1.33g and containing 1g potassium citrate.
Specific References
LITHOSOLV is contraindicated in people suffering from hyperkalemia, hypermagnesemia or in conditions that may predispose to the development of these plasma alterations, such as chronic renal failure or uncontrolled diabetes mellitus.
Please inform your doctor before taking LITHOSOLV if you are taking any other medication. Concomitant intake of LITHOSOLV tablets and potassium-sparing drugs (such as triamterene, spironolactone, amiloride) may lead to hyperkalemia. Monitoring of blood potassium levels is therefore recommended.
There are no known interactions with other drugs. LITHOSOLV is generally well tolerated. Rarely, gastrointestinal disorders such as abdominal heaviness, nausea or occasional diarrhoea may occur in sensitive individuals.
The recommended dose is two tablets a day, unless otherwise indicated by the attending physician. It is preferable to take LITHOSOLV with a little water on a full stomach.
