Haarlem oil has a sulphurous history. It is a 400-year-old alchemical discovery, originating in the Dutch town of Haarlem. The license was acquired in 1923 by Mr. Thomas, a pharmacist, and then passed on to Dr. J. Lefevre, a physician and pharmacist. Haarlem oil is derived from the combination of sulfur with essential oil of pine and naturally-occurring linseed oil.
