Also known as "Indian plantain" or "psyllium blond", this plant owes its effectiveness to the envelope surrounding its seeds: on contact with water, this envelope swells, increasing stool volume and facilitating evacuation. But to keep its promise, Ispaghul must always be taken with a sufficient quantity of liquid.

Native to India and Pakistan,Ispaghul (Plantago ovata Forssk.) is a 20-40 cm-high plant that thrives in relatively poor soil and tolerates both cold and heat. It is the seed coat that is used in phytotherapy.

ispaghul's "fiber effect" is particularly appreciated in cases of sluggish transit. The mucilage helps regulate rapid transit.
